The Voodoo Tactical Shooting Mat is another great choice if you’re looking to invest in some gear to make your prone shooting a little more comfortable. It has some cool features that will make shooting easier and more practical. It’s made of durable materials and is large enough to accommodate most shooting positions.

Below we’ll discuss this mat and see if it’s a good shooting mat.

Voodoo Tactical Roll Up Shooter’s Mat Review

If you’re in the market for a shooting mat, this Voodoo Tactical Shooting Mat Review is definitely worth checking out.

The Voodoo Tactical Shooting Mat is one of the lightest weight mats on the market at less than 4lbs, and it has some handy pockets for stowing away your gear.

I feel that this mat is well priced and is something that I’m glad I’ve invested in.

One of my favorite points about this mat is the pockets. I was at the range recently sending lead out to 1000yards with some other shooters, we were all in the prone position and all using muzzle breaks. As everyone was shooting dust and dirt was being kicked up from the movement of air from the breaks on my neighbor’s rifles. Using the pockets I was able to slip my dope book and range finder into a safe little spot and only pull them out as I needed them, it was great to have this pocket to keep my gear safe and dust free – well, mostly dust free!

Due to the setup of the range that I was at, we initially started at the 400yard mound to setup out scopes and to zero, then as a group, after we finished our setup, we all moved back to the mound which allowed us to use the full 1000yard range – the Voodoo Tactical is super simple to roll up and because it’s lightweight I was able to clip it onto my range bag and free up my hands to carry my rifle with ease.

There are a few points to this mat which I would say are cons. Don’t get me wrong, I really love this mat, hence the grade on the Voodoo’s report card which you can see below, but it’s not my all-time favorite. As I was saying the areas that I want to highlight is the padding, the price, and the size.

The price, what can I say?! This mat isn’t the most expensive option out there, but it’s also not the cheapest. If you’re looking for something on a tight budget, I feel that this mat would be a good direction to head. There are cheaper options out, but they are not at the same caliber of quality and durability.

The padding is okay, but not great and I would give it a 3 out of 5. You can definitely feel rocks digging into your stomach as you’re laying down, so I would suggest making sure you clear the surface before putting your mat down and getting comfortable. If you’re not planning on spending a long time on the ground, it’s more than sufficient, but if you’re wanting to spend a few hours fine-tuning your dope, then you’d want a mat with some more padding, or prepping the ground and get any larger rocks out of the way before laying the Voodoo down.

Finally, I just wanted to touch on the size. The length is fine, and I didn’t have any issues with that, but the width is a little lacking. In the prone position, the mat width was fine for most of my shots, although there were a few shots that we were further off to the side of the range. After adjusting my body position I felt that I was right on the edge of the mat. As I said, this was fine for my scenario, but having a little more surface area might be better for a long day at the range. The downside of a larger mat though is that it might not roll up as small and may add a little bit of weight to your gear.

Overall, I think this is a great mat that suits me in some, but not all situations.
