SentrySafe Biometric Safe Review

If you’re looking for a reliable and secure gun safe, the SentrySafe Biometric Gun Safe is one of many great options that is worth considering. This safe uses biometric fingerprint recognition to ensure that only authorized users can access the contents.

We have an article dedicated to this topic, so if you’re interested in seeing our full list of biometric gun safes be sure to bookmark our article on the Best Biometric Gun Safes.

The Sentry Safe Biometric Gun Safe has a fingerprint scanner, LED lights on the keypad and inside the case – which is pretty cool at night, it has a backup key and a pin-code access which allows you to use the scanner or the code, as well as a pry-resistant door and bolt-down hardware to deter burglars. It has a solid steel feel and has enough room for my pistol and magazines which makes it a great option as a handgun safe. I think this safe on the surface sounds great, but I think it’s important to see what people have found when using products in the real world. So below we have done that for you.

Before getting to the hands on review, I just wanted to touch on this thought, using technology such as biometric fingerprint scanning does sound cool right? But is this feature really worth having, and does this warrant the title of the best biometric gun safe? Well, I put this safe to the test and have used the fingerprint scanner a lot, and I have my findings below to whether this safe is worth investing your hard earned dollars in.

Before I get there though, I just wanted to give a brief overview of what biometrics are so we can come to a conclusion to wether this feature is worth having.

Biometrics are simply a type of physical characteristics that can be used to identify one person from another. Some types of biometric identification technology that you’re probably familiar with or at least have heard of could be fingerprint mapping, facial recognition, and retina scans. So I guess one question that would be worth asking is, is having a fingerprint scanner or a biometric lock worth having on a gun safe?

When reviewing this safe I really wanted to focus on the technology, so I put the scanner to the test. I got all of my family members to try and access the safe by using the scanner, I used the scanner with clean and dirty hands to see what will happen and I have opened and closed this safe too many times to count to see if it’s reliable or not.

In the end one of the best features of this safe is its biometric lock, after getting my family members to also try the scanner I had no unauthorized access! When using the scanner many times myself it was very reliable and it did give me super quick access to the safe. When my hands were dusty and sweaty though, it did require a little more perseverance.

Another feature which I loved is the LED lights throughout. Accessing the keypad, and the contents inside is made so much easier when you can see what you’re doing and I think this is a must have feature on all of your safes.

Finally when speaking into the features, is the button functionality, they do work well without any issues, although I find them a little squishy for my liking. They do work which is what you want and they’re better than some others I’ve used in the past, although I feel that they could be better.

One of the questions we asked above was, is a biometric lock worth having on a gun safe. Personally I think it’s a great idea! I don’t want anyone else, especially my kids, to access this safe. Secondly, I also have safes with a standard key access, and occasionally I will go to access the safe and realize that I don’t have my key on me. Now this is never an emergency situation, but if it was, my situation will be a lot worse if I’m needing to worry about keys as well. That said, this is why I also believe it’s a must to invest in a biometric lock or biometric safe that has a reliable fingerprint scanner for quick access.

Overall, the SentrySafe Biometric Gun Safe is a great option if you’re looking for a secure and reliable gun safe.
