GoldenRod Dehumidifier Review

You’ve probably seen this dehumidifier rod somewhere before as it’s been around for decades, I’ve even seen them in museum display cabinets. But if you haven’t seen the golden rod before, the Golden rod Original Dehumidifier is a heating rod, which comes in sizes between 12″ and 36″ in length, that is essentially a heating element that increases the temperate around the dehumidifier rod to reduce the humidity inside your gun cabinet or safe. Firearm experts have stated that you should have a relative humidity of around 45% – 55% to keep your guns in a comfortable environment. If the relative humidity is more than 55% you have a higher risk of rust, and if the humidity is too low you may dry out your wooden stocks.

This process helps to prevent rust and corrosion on your firearms, as well as mold and mildew growth. The Goldenrod dehumidifier also features a built-in thermostat that automatically turns the unit on and off as needed, based on the humidity level in the surrounding area.

When using a relative humidity monitor, I found that it brings the humidity down to a level that suits my firearms effectively and in a short timeframe.

One of the benefits of the Goldenrod Original Dehumidifier is that it is very easy to use. Simply plug it into any standard 110-volt outlet and place it inside your gun safe or another storage area on the little stand that it comes with, and away you go. The Goldenrod dehumidifier will begin working immediately, and you will not need to worry about it again. Another benefit of this product is that it is very affordable, making it a great option for those on a budget.

If you don’t have an outlet in your gun cabinet, you would have to drill a hole to bring your power cable into the safe to run this gun safe dehumidifier. If this isn’t an option in your gun safe, you may need to consider some desiccant dehumidifiers. We have a number of desiccant dehumidifiers to reduce the humidity level of your gun safes in our best gun safe dehumidifier article.

There are a few potential drawbacks to the Golden rod Original Dehumidifier that should be considered before purchasing. As the golden rod is essentially a heating element, it’s not a good idea to have it running too close to things that may be affected by the temperature increase such as the wooden stocks on your rifles, so if your safe is a little tight, this option might not be right for you.

Overall, the Goldenrod Original Dehumidifier is a great option for those looking for an affordable and easy-to-use gun-safe dehumidifier.
