Review of Vortex Crossfire II 2-7×32 Crossbow Scope

I was impressed by the build quality of the Vortex Crossfire II 2-7×32 crossbow scope right from the start. Made from aircraft grade aluminum, it is sturdy but also light as a feather. Once I accidentally knocked it against a tree trunk while tracking a deer and my immediate thought was that I would need a replacement. But it took the beating and kept going. That’s when I knew this scope was a keeper.

The glass clarity of this scope is crystal clear, and the reticle is the best thing about this optic. It is illuminated and has multiple aiming points, which are especially designed for the crossbow. I did not have an issue with adjusting the diopter ring. The scope gave me a wide field of view, like having a wide window to the forest, which made it easier to spot and track game.

I also really like the mounting height of this scope. It’s very thoughtful of Vortex. It sits about 2 3/4 inches above the center of the arrow, and it made all the difference in getting my arrow flight calculations spot on. I remember tracking this big buck through the wood and the scope height helped me keep my aim true.

Vortex Crossfire II 2-7×32 crossbow scope can withstand some challenging weather conditions. I had this hunting trip on a rainy, foggy morning. Normally, I’d hesitate, but this scope is waterproof and fogproof, so I decided to put it to the test. So there I was, out there in the drizzle, tracking a deer, and the scope didn’t fog up or get waterlogged. This scope is sealed with O-rings and is filled with nitrogen, so that kept the moisture out of the scope.

I liked the dual illuminated reticle on this scope, which is red and green. Why I say this is, unlike the other scopes which have settings like one, two, three, four, and five for brightness, the Vortex Crossfire II 2-7×32 crossbow scope is variable, so you can have your preferred brightness. This smooth transition comes in handy when you’re out in the field making decisions in split seconds.

You can also customize these scopes by adding some camo paint to make it feel more like your own. I just do it for fun. If you’re someone like me, then yeah, go ahead and do it for the touch of personalization.

Speaking of value, I think the Vortex Crossfire II 2-7×32 Crossbow scope gives you excellent value for money. I mean, the spot-on accuracy I get when I’m lining up my shots and the quality of the optics make this scope a real bang for the buck. For folks like me who love crossbow hunting, it’s money well spent.

However, there are also a couple of downsides to this scope that I personally experienced.

First, the reticle numbers are small. I struggled a bit to judge the range because of it, especially in low-light situations, even with the illuminated reticle. Second, I felt like the instructions for specific situations like adjusting magnification for varying arrow speeds could be more user-friendly. But I can live with that. Having used this crossbow scope for quite some time, I can confidently say that it’s very reliable and delivers results consistently.

Vortex Crossfire II 2-7×32 Pros and Cons

  • Illuminated reticle
  • Good price point
