Having had years of experience with different red dots, I know the difference between cheap equipment, over-priced red dots, and those that are just right. My Review Of The Trijicon RMR Type 2

The first thing that caught my eye with the Trijicon RMR is its clarity because that’s where it truly shines. The glass is crystal clear, and I’ve experienced no sight flicker or distortion, even when not using the mounting plates. This clarity is a critical factor in maintaining situational awareness, especially in fast-paced scenarios.

The Type 2 offers a noticeable improvement in target identification and low-light shooting when compared to its predecessor. This enhancement is crucial for users who may find themselves in a variety of lighting conditions. I found it particularly useful during nighttime activities because of its excellent night vision. It also is a great choice for piggybacking on another optic, such as a magnified scope. This means it’s great for scenarios like hunting in densely forested areas or competitive shooting. I’ve personally used the RMR Type 2 as a piggybacked optic in hunting situations where I needed both speed for close-range shots and the precision of a magnified scope for longer shots.

My 6.5 MOA version is great for rapid target acquisition, but as long as you go with the right version for the use case, the RMR Type 2 will never let you down. I’ve used it on various firearms, including rifles, shotguns, and handguns, and it has never let me down. From my experience as a former Navy officer, I can tell you that target acquisition becomes significantly faster with practice. It’s a testament to the design’s robustness.

Additionally, the battery life is impressive, lasting up to four years at the mid-illumination setting on manual. That said, I’ve seen the battery drain faster in extreme temperatures, so keep that in mind if you are going to rely on this one in extreme climates.
