Specifications and Background of the Nightforce ATACR 7-35×56

Before I delve into the specifics of the Nightforce ATACR 7-35×56, here’s a quick look at the specifications of this riflescope.

Nightforce Optics, Inc., with a reputation for producing high-end telescopic sights, spotting scopes, and mounting accessories, introduced the ATACR series to cater to the demands of users requiring a balance between precision and extreme long-range capabilities. The ATACR 7-35×56 is a notable product in this series. Nightforce designed the ATACR scopes to enhance rapid target acquisition at lower magnification, making them suitable for a variety of applications, from law enforcement to competitive shooting like the Precision Rifle Series (PRS).

This riflescope has a magnification range of 7-35x, which makes far-off targets appear up to 35 times closer. The first focal plane (F1/FFP) feature of the scope ensures that the size of the reticle remains constant relative to the target size throughout the magnification range. A 34mm scope tube diameter provides a large adjustment range for windage and elevation. The overall length of the scope is 16.0 inches, and it has a mounting length of 6.6 inches. It weights in at 39.3 oz.

The click value of .250 MOA or .1 MRAD provides precise adjustments for windage and elevation. The internal adjustment range for elevation is 100 MOA/29 MRAD. For windage, it’s 60 MOA/17 MRAD, offering a wide range of adjustments for long-range shooting. You can adjust the parallax from 11 yards to infinity, and it provides an eye relief of 3.6 inches. The field of view at 100 yards or meters is 15.0 ft/5.0 m at 7x, reducing to 3.4 ft/1.1 m at 35x. The exit pupil measures 6.0 mm at 7x and 1.6 mm at 35x, with illumination powered by Digillum technology.

Review of the Nightforce ATACR 7-35×56

Starting with the ergonomics on this scope, the controls on the Nightforce ATACR 7-35x56mm F1 are simple and enjoyable to use. The clicks when turning the dials give a reassuring feeling of accuracy. This is helpful for making quick adjustments while shooting. Also, I found it easy to change magnification with the integrated throw lever, which made this scope more ergonomic.

As for durability, I really like how tough the ATACR 7-35×56 is. I’ve used it in all kinds of weather, from sunny days to light rain, and it’s always performed well. Its ability to handle shocks, water, and fog gave me confidence that it will perform well, no matter where I am or what the conditions are.

The glass quality of the Nightforce ATACR 7-35×56 F1 is second to none. During my testing, the clarity and sharpness of the images were excellent. I cranked up the magnification to 35x and the images were still clear and free of distortion. That’s how good the glass on this scope is.

The Nightforce ATACR 7-35x56mm F1 excelled in extreme long range shooting situations. With its wide magnification range of 7-35x, it gave me unmatched precision. Whether I was aiming at distant targets or moving around in different shooting situations, the scope always delivered. It also proved its reliability by consistently maintaining accuracy and holding zero during testing.

The MIL-R F1 reticle on this scope is ideal for shooters like me. It’s designed for precision, with a crosshair that’s 1.0 Mil across and lots of graduations which helped me make precise adjustments. I like that the center of the reticle lights up. It really helps when it’s not so bright out, like in the early morning or when it’s cloudy.

The Nightforce scope has a scale below the center of the reticle, which helped me estimate ranges for long-distance shots. Also, with various reticle options available, you can choose the one that suits your needs best, whether it’s for hunting, competing, or practicing at the range.

My only gripe with this scope is that it’s not only built like a tank, but also weighs like one.

When it comes to value, the cost is high, no doubt. But if you’re planning to really put your scope through tough conditions, it’s money well spent for the unmatched durability and reliability that Nightforce builds into all their optics.
