7 Best Glock Trigger: Perfecting Perfection
I’m someone who is all about Glock. It’s been a go-to in the pistol world for ages, known for its simplicity and adaptability. One of the best ways to improve this gun is by upgrading the Glock trigger system. But with so many Glock triggers out there, choosing the right one can feel like diving into a sea of options. But don’t worry, I’ve done the legwork for you. I’ve compiled a list of the seven best Glock triggers and put together a guide to help you find the one that fits your needs just right. So, let’s dive into this guide and find the best Glock trigger for you.
What Is a Glock Trigger?
The Glock trigger is an integral component of Glock pistols, operating within a striker-fired system. When you pull it, it partially cocks and then releases the striker, starting the firing process. One thing that sets it apart is its smaller “pull target” on the trigger face, which makes it more reliable and user-friendly. Upgrading the trigger system gives shooters the chance to tailor their shooting experience, but getting the hang of it requires understanding its feel, the right pressing technique, reset procedure, and how to position your fingers.
How I Chose the Best Glock Trigger
As a former Marine with decades of shooting experience, I’ve had the chance to test out many Glock triggers and know what qualities make a good one. But I didn’t want this list to just reflect my opinions, so I reached out to some shooter buddies who are also Glock enthusiasts for their input. With their insights and suggestions, I’ve compiled this comprehensive list of the best Glock triggers.
Now, I know choosing a Glock trigger is a personal choice, and I kept that in mind while ranking them from 1 to 7. I made sure to include options that cater to different preferences and needs. Alongside the list, I’ve included a buyer’s guide to help you navigate the choices and find the trigger that best suits your needs.
Now that we’ve covered how I chose the best Glock triggers, let’s jump onto the list.

TangoDown Vickers Carry Trigger Review
TangoDown and Larry Vickers teaming up is always going to result in something great. Their latest collaboration brings us the Vickers Carry Trigger for Glock, designed to give you better control, a smoother pull, and improved comfort for carrying every day. Also, you got nothing to worry about safety – it still sticks to the reliable Glock OEM trigger while stepping up its game.
The Vickers Carry Trigger uses a flat-faced design, perfect for folks with smaller hands, giving you more trigger surface to work with and keeping your aim steady with its straight rearward movement. It’s all about control. Plus, it keeps that smooth feel you love about Glock triggers, with less over-travel for quicker response times.
The Vickers Carry Trigger doesn’t change some of the core concepts of the Glock trigger pull. While it’s much smoother and grit free, it keeps the same basic weight and trigger pull distance. This ensures not only safety but isn’t a radical transformation from the Glock-type trigger you might have already gotten used to. The only real difference in traditional pull length and reset I can feel is the decrease in over-travel.
To be clear, that is just the actual trigger portion. It is not the bars that connect it to the striker. This means you won’t get the best trigger possible with just the trigger shoe. However, you can always polish your trigger bars and do the classic 25-cent trigger job. I like this trigger so much that it made my list for the best Glock upgrades. I could only pick one trigger for that list, and this was it.

Glock Performance Trigger Review
Glock took their time in getting into their own aftermarket triggers. Finally, at SHOT 2023, they unveiled their own creation: the Glock Performance Trigger. While it might not suit everyone, this trigger stands out for its unique design and impressive performance.
Glock operates on a partially cocked striker design, essentially functioning as a double-action mechanism. However, the Glock Performance Trigger shifts this into a single-action setup by fully cocking the striker. This alteration results in a notably lighter trigger pull, solely releasing the striker upon trigger activation.
This kind of modification is really geared towards the competition scene, where speed and precision are everything. Not everyone will find it suitable, though. Aside from just making the trigger pull smoother, it’s got a wider, more comfortable shoe compared to the stock Glock trigger. Also, because it’s a Glock OEM part, you won’t have to worry about voiding your warranty. Glock is known for making reliable stuff, so you’re covered in that department.
The only downside is that it’s only compatible with Gen 5 Glocks, so if you’ve got a Gen 3 or 4, you’re out of luck. Still, it’s pretty impressive and can make your Glock feel as good as shooting a Walther PPQ.
Glock Performance Trigger Pros and Cons

- Easy to install
- Built with Glock quality
- Only for Glock Gen 5s

Timney Alpha Competition Series Trigger Review
Timney does fantastic things to triggers. Not just Glock triggers, but many types of triggers. Since today is all about that beautiful Glock trigger, let’s take a peek at the Timney Alpha Trigger. Specifically labeled for competition, it’s a lighter and shorter option not suitable for duty or carry. This series aims to enhance the trigger pull of Glock Gen 3, 4, and 5 models.
The Timney Alpha trigger swaps out the standard polymer trigger shoe for a sleek metal flat-faced design, which does wonders for eliminating that annoying trigger rub you often get with Glocks. It’s all-metal, as you’d expect, with a slick teflon nickel finish on the trigger bar and sear, making the whole pull feel incredibly smooth.
The Alpha trigger reduces pull weight consistently to around three pounds. We can fine-tune the Timney Alpha Trigger to minimize take-up and eliminate most pre-trigger wall movement. While I noticed a slight over-travel, it’s negligible. Overall, the trigger offers an exceptionally smooth experience, living up to Timney’s reputation.
This extremely well-made trigger won’t fail you and has a ten thousand-round independent test behind it. However, quality comes at a premium. Priced at around $150, it’s a significant investment, nearly a third of the cost of a standard Gen 4 gun.

Overwatch Precision TAC Trigger Review
The Overwatch Precision TAC Trigger appeals to the shooter who likes to tinker and customize their gun. Most Glock triggers appeal to that type, but the Overwatch Precision TAC Trigger takes it a step further. When purchased, you can pick between a variety of colors, two different trigger bar types, and trigger bars with NP3 coatings or polished designs.
Once you select your parts, you can install the versatile trigger. Overwatch Precision targets the duty and carry market with their TAC trigger. While not extremely lightweight, it significantly improves the trigger pull, offering smoother take-up and a crisp break.
The TAC Trigger uses a metal, flat-faced design for a smooth and easy pull. It addresses the problem of trigger rub. Although it’s not completely flat, it features a hook that may seem strange at first. But it’s actually a smart addition, keeping your finger securely on the trigger, preventing slips and reducing contact with the trigger guard during rapid fire.
The Overwatch TAC Trigger has the downside of being a bit expensive. It’s not the priciest option, but you are paying for that extra modularity. However, you are getting a ton of options and can easily get the exact trigger you need for your gun. Not a bad option all around.
Overwatch Precision TAC Trigger Pros and Cons
- Improved trigger pull
- Excellent ergonomics
- Trigger index hook
- Blade could be wider

Apex Action Trigger Enhancement Review
Apex is another big trigger company. Arguably, that’s what they do. They are a trigger company, so by now, they better have gotten pretty good at it. The Action Trigger Enhancement kit is their fancy way of saying a drop-in Glock trigger. This setup combines the Apex trigger shoe, the Apex Ultimate Safety Plunger, and the Apex Performance Connector to give you the full experience of a better trigger.
Once you install it, you’ll cut down your trigger pull weight by roughly a pound. It also trims down pre-travel and overall travel while giving you a shorter, crisper reset. With no grit and an ultra-smooth feel, it delivers a fantastic trigger pull and a precise break. Plus, the Apex design maintains Glock’s center-mounted pivot for full safety retention.
The Apex Action Trigger Enhancement is a simple Glock trigger upgrade that makes a major difference to how your pistol handles and performs. The flat-faced design delivers excellent ergonomics and feels just as good as it looks. It looks good because you can change several colors and design.
There are a few extra parts involved in the installation process. They aren’t difficult, but they do require a little more time to finish. There are different variants for the Gen 3-4 and the Gen 5 versions. It’s also available to all Glocks except the large frame models.
Apex Action Trigger Enhancement Pros and Cons
- Great weight reduction
- All around trigger upgrade
- Excellent ergonomics
- Requires additional installation steps

Zev Technologies Zev Pro Curved Face Trigger Ultimate Kit Review
Zev’s been in the Glock game from the get-go. They’ve racked up more world championships than any other aftermarket trigger outfit combined. So, diving into their Pro Curved Face Trigger Ultimate Kit was like stepping into legendary territory.
This isn’t your basic drop-in kit. It’s a complete overhaul, promising to elevate your Glock’s game. From the trigger and trigger bar to the ejector housing, PRO connector, Trigger Spring, PRO Striker Spring, stainless steel firing pin safety, firing pin safety spring, and skeletonized striker, it’s a full package deal. Every piece matters, working together to refine your trigger pull.
Now, let’s talk installation. It’s a bit involved, definitely something you might want a Glock expert for. But trust me, the end result is pure magic. The trigger pull becomes insanely crisp, shedding a solid two pounds of weight.
On top of that, it smoothes things out. It’s like butter when you’re done with the installation. You’ll see a decrease in reset, less creep, a smooth trigger pull, and a very positive click when the trigger resets. The ZEV Trigger is a very well-made complete trigger replacement system that does wonders for your Glock.

Johnny Glocks Evolution X Drop-In Combat Trigger Review
I know that I often let my bias slip in on these picks, and most of my picks are flat triggers. But with the Johnny Glocks Evolution X trigger, I couldn’t resist including it. Sporting the JG VEX metal shoe, it offers one of the flattest triggers around. From the moment I gripped it, I was impressed by its super flat profile and the textured surface that kept my finger securely in place.
What sets the Evolution X apart is its ingenious trigger bar design. The mechanical method employed here ensures a silky smooth trigger pull, eliminating any grittiness or resistance. This attention to detail might be overlooked by some, but it’s what elevates this trigger to excellence.
The 3.5 to 4.5-pound break falls perfectly within duty limits, but it’s the overall feel that truly shines. Smooth, with zero over-travel and an assertive reset, it instills confidence with every squeeze.
The downside is that the complete kit is about 400 bucks. I’ve spent less than that on a used Glock. Johnny Glocks produces this kit for all generations of Glock pistols. It’s also made for the slimline series of triggers, so they do cover a wide variety of guns.
Johnny Glocks Evolution X Drop-In Combat Trigger Pros and Cons
- Super smooth trigger
- Aggressive reset
- Excellent tactical design
- Expensive

Best Glock Trigger – Buyers Guide
Why upgrade your trigger? It’s a valid question. While a Glock’s stock trigger is nice, an upgrade can add some subtle improvements. But don’t expect it to magically boost your accuracy. Mastering the basics matters more than having a fancy trigger. Experienced shooters might notice a difference, but newbies shouldn’t rely on it for instant success. I thought a new trigger would make me a better shooter, but practice mattered more. Still, over time, an upgraded trigger can help improve performance.
Why Should You Trade out a Trigger
Okay, now I’ll answer the question. It’s a multi-part answer, so strap in.
A Better Trigger Pull: Glock often suffers from that plastic-on-plastic feeling trigger. It’s not exactly enjoyable for anyone involved in the whole process. It’s not a bad trigger, but it can be improved. A new trigger bar and trigger shoe can help smooth it out, as well as give you less take up and over travel. This results in an excellent trigger pull all around.
Comfort: The key problem with the Glock trigger to me is how it rubs my finger. A stock Glock trigger becomes a real pain. I mean that, literally. After a few hundred rounds, the trigger will start to rub your trigger finger in a really irritating way. Enough to cause actual pain. Replacing the trigger will get rid of that feeling.
Easier Reach: The stock curved Glock trigger will fit most shooters without issue. However, as well know, there are exceptions to most shooters. If you have smaller hands and feel the initial reach to the Glock trigger is a bit long, then a flat-faced trigger shoe might be the solution to your problem. The flat design typically reaches a little rearward and makes it easier for small hands to find the trigger.
Speed: Less over travel and a shorter reset could make you a faster shooter. Keep in mind you have to be of a pretty high skill level to notice a difference, but it’s possible. It does require a lot of practice, but we can feel it with competition-grade triggers.
For Fun: Tinkering with Glock handguns is fun. You get to learn about them, experience how they function, and ultimately have a little fun changing out your trigger. It is your gun, so make it your gun. Not to mention triggers like the Franklin Armory Binary trigger offer you a pretty thrilling experience that might not be useful, but it can be quite fun.
To tag onto that, if this Glock is for self-defense purposes, then you should make sure you test the trigger extensively. You might purchase a perfectly good trigger but fail to install it properly. That can happen, so make sure your gun goes bang just as well as it always has. Engage in some healthy live and dry fire after the installation and make sure it’s working.
A Word of Caution
Before I finish up here, let me leave you with a word of caution. Tinkering with Glocks is plenty of fun. However, you need to ensure you are not going to decrease the reliability of your firearm. The trigger listed above are all from reputable manufacturers with years in the business. There are plenty of fly-by-night companies that pop up, offer parts, and disappear. Keep that in mind when you start shopping.
