Shield Background

Designed for elite teams, rapid response units, and professionals who don’t compromise, the Legion Shield is RTS Tactical’s answer to the evolving needs of modern-day tactical operations. While maintaining RF1-rated protection, the shield incorporates a modular design with removable components, most notably the RTS Tactical Legion Carrier System, to allow for quick deployment, transport, and long-term carry.

Unlike traditional ballistic shields that often prioritize either mobility or maximum coverage, the Legion Shield bridges the gap. The shield’s tapered geometric shape provides expanded protection, while its lightweight build and ergonomic features ensure it doesn’t slow the operator down. Whether used in vehicle stops, Close Quarter (CQ) breaches, or mobile patrols, the Legion Shield is built to empower leaders to handle dynamic threats with confidence and agility.

RTS Tactical Shield Review

The RTS Tactical Legion Ballistic Shield is as aggressive in performance as its name suggests. You can feel the intention in every curve and detail; from the Hexa-Taper Design that maximizes torso and leg coverage to the lightweight composite construction that refuses to weigh down its operator.

What truly separates the Legion Shield is the Carrier System. Acting as a backpack-style mount with a triple carry option, this carrier system allows for hands-free carry and seamlessly transitions into a combat mode. The ability to hike long distances with the shield securely mounted is a huge win for SWAT or tactical patrols needing rapid response gear.

The patent pending boltless viewport system delivers a clean line of sight and mitigates weak points, while the padding and handle design reduce fatigue even during extended carries. The Legion Shield isn’t just about stopping rounds, it’s about carrying confidence into the fight.

  • Massive Coverage Area
  • Modular Carrier System
  • NIJ RF1 Rated
  • Balanced Weight
  • Limited Rifle Threat Coverage (RF1, Not RF2 or RF3)
  • Heavier than Level IIIA Shields
  • Starting at $5,500

How to Care for Your Shield

  • Cleaning: Wipe down with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect viewport clarity, edge integrity, and handle structure. If the viewport becomes damaged for any reason, RTS Tactical will replace the glass viewport only, without having to get a new shield.
  • Storage: Store in a dry, climate-controlled space using a padded case or the Legion Shield Carrier System. The Legion Carrier System is custom fit for the LEGION Shield. No wobble. No sag. No guessing. Precision-fit design protects the shield (including the viewport) during storage, transport, and operation.
  • Transport: Use the RTS Tactical LEGION Ballistic Shield Carrier System to prevent fatigue and streamline rapid deployments for individuals or as a team.
